ABOUT SEO WTF

Amie Sparrow founded SEO WTF, an SEO training course for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and individuals flying solo in their business ventures. It aims to demystify SEO practices. After recognising the glaring gap in SEO education specifically tailored for women and small business entrepreneurs, Amie took matters into her own hands. She observed that most budget-friendly SEO courses available to small business entrepreneurs are outdated or completely miss the mark.

Driven by the philosophy, "If it doesn't exist, create it," Amie created the SEO WTF training course for small business SEO. She designed a training program that's easy to digest and inclusive, stripping away any jargon or self-importance and empowering anyone with an online presence to harness the power of SEO.

MARCH 2021 - SEPTEMBER 2021

HEAD OF DIGITAL PR

Responsible for the success of the entire department and colleagues within. Created and managed the department budget. Responsible for new business sales leads and pitches, new client acquisition & upselling.


Wrote and delivered a departmental set of standards and best practices. Created a streamlined sales pitch process that led to several successful new business pitches. Built and led an eight-person digital PR team that included a mix of positions, including link builders, designers, developers, research executives, and digital PRs from executive to senior manager.

DIGITAL PR CAMPAIGNS

Digital PR consists of both offsite and onsite strategies where the main aim is to earn valuable backlinks on high-quality editorial websites.

For our Vintage Baby Names campaign, our team used ONS data to compare the top 100 names from 1908 to 2018. This campaign gained over 30 pieces of coverage including OK! Magazine, WalesOnline, and HuffPost.


We also have experience running US-based campaigns, like this one on Favorite Halloween Candy. We ran a Google Survey asking ‘Which snack would you most look forward to receiving from trick-or-treating?’ This campaign earned 27 pieces of coverage from sites like Fox News, Yahoo Life, The Takeout, TimeOut; plus, we started a lot of conversation on American radio stations

MOBILE PHONES AND RELATIONSHIPS CAMPAIGN

PR CAMPAIGN WIN WITH BBC GNS SPOT AND PRESS ASSOCIATION PICK UP

Campaign lead for relationships and mobile phone-based campaign which centered around a survey of 900 therapists on mobile phone usage and how it impacts people's relationships. My targeted PR push led to an invite to BBC GNS, culminating in 12 regional BBC radio station interviews on campaign launch day. My PR push also extended to online and print with a pick up by the Press Association, culminating in over 20 pieces of brand coverage with key messaging.

MIND MEDIA AWARDS

PARTNERSHIP THROUGH PROACTIVITY

Through some tenacious relationship building, I coordinated a partnership with Happiful and Mind charity for its Mind Media Awards.
I used this opportunity to amplify the brand as well as to make closer connections with targeted journalists.
Recognising that there would be little time for networking at the event, I planned and implemented a pre-award drinks reception with award nominees and journalists. The reception and award ceremony were successful - the month of the awards ceremony, our web traffic increased by over 300%, as well as getting us access to high profile influencers and celebrities.
